Art Anchors Me in the Present

I believe art has the power to slow us down. In a world of deadlines, demands, and distractions, painting is how I reconnect with the present moment.

I find inspiration in everyday moments that make me stop and pay attention - a walk in my neighborhood, the fleeting grace of a hummingbird, the resilience of a succulent, or the expansive feeling of being near water. My paintings aren’t usually about documenting those moments exactly as they happened. They’re about holding onto how they made me feel.

Whether I’m painting botanicals, birds, or abstracts, the common thread connecting my work is the feeling behind the moment. Sometimes it’s a sense of calm, wonder, or nostalgia. Other times it’s an unexplained emotion I’m trying to process. Painting gives me space to sit with those feelings and make sense of them.

My Process

I paint intuitively, allowing each piece to evolve through many layers. Sometimes I begin with a specific image from nature or travel, and other times with nothing more than a color, a dream, or a memory. The finished painting often reveals something I couldn’t have articulated when I started.

For Collectors

I hope my paintings bring a little more beauty into everyday spaces. If they make someone slow down for a moment, spark a memory or emotion, or simply enjoy looking at them over morning coffee, then I couldn’t ask for more.
